Careers in graphic design are expected to be one of the largest and fastest growing job markets through 2014. Graphic design, designing websites and computer animation are going to be careers which most people would choose. Competition will continue to be steep, even though many jobs are available for someone pursuing a career in computer graphic design. Some people love it as a career, for others purely as a hobby while some may like to use it as a part time freelancing tool. A four year college degree or a Bachelors Degree is sufficient to become a computer graphic designer. For getting some technical positions, you need only two years college degree or Associates Degree. This type of career can not move forward unless you get further education. It is important to understand the need for formal education if you want to pursue a career in this field.

About thirty percent of those in a computer graphic design career work independently as freelancers. Holding a regular job of a computer graphic designer or any other computer related profession is normal for nearly half of the freelancers. Freelancing is a viable option in this career as there is no dearth of demand for graphic designers from small firms who can not pay for the larger design firms.

There are many other careers in computer graphic design. What are the other career options you have? Although not wide enough in terms of variety, a career in a small or large specialist company may throw up a steady stream of work. To keep your clients happy and get involved in new projects, you have to show them that you work hard.

A college degree, a burning ambition and a thorough knowledge of where you wish to go are not adequate if you wish to take this up as a career option. You must develop the art of using computer graphic software as well as other computer related jobs. You need to make a portfolio which is a collection of some of your best work. The quality of the contents of your portfolio would subsequently decide whether you would get assignments or would still be waiting for something to crop up.

Just after finishing your college, and coming to a decision what you wish to do and where you want to go, your focus should be to get that first entry level job. You can get them through online job boards, online or print classified ads or through the college or university placement desks. Online job boards, classified ads as well as job for hire boards are the places where freelance job opportunities are displayed. For design careers work for hire boards work better than other career options as it is widely understood that this is a not-very-cheap endeavour. Good luck in pursuing your graphic design career!

I’ve always wanted to sell things. When I was 10, I remember visiting my local pottery shop on a weekly basis and buying up a few dozen un-baked coffee cups. I’d draw cartoons on them (I was actually pretty good back then) and bring them back the next day to have them baked.

I then took them to the local fire department and my school and tried to sell them. I did sell a few of them … but I never made enough to compensate for the cost of the cups, kilning and paints! This is the SAME problem I have with the retail world when trying to sell my logo design software. I’ve been selling The Logo Creator, in large retail stores like CompUSA, Fry’s Electronics and Office Max since 2004.

The software boxes cost about $3.00 to build. This includes the box, the CD and it’s sleeve, and the burning of the CD disk. There’s also a ‘filler’ that the retailers want you to include (this makes the box appear stronger on the shelf).

You can hire a local designer, or find one on the net from companies likes elance.com or moonlighters.com. A designer may charge upwards of $2,000 to $7,000 to design the box! (I’m lucky enough to be able to design my own boxes). A good rule of thumb is that you’ll most likely spend $3,000 for 1000 boxes.

The least amount that the printshops will let you print is about 1,000 units. It may sound small, but the cost can really add up when a chain like OfficeMax has 1200 stores with each store ordering a minimum of 5 boxes. That’s 6,000 boxes! It adds up quick.

Then, you have something called “Shelf Space” to deal with.

Not all … but some stores don’t just take a product and put it onto their shelves. They need cash. …They always need cash.

Often times, this shelf space gets as high as $4,000 for just one product! You really need to sell an armload of your software in order to make up this $5000. Oh, and then, the retail chain may take a 10% cut of your sales …It can all get crazy.

Why the net is taking over

This is why the web is just plain awesome. There’s NO overhead (other than your time of course). You can even use an external eCommerce company to handle your shopping cart system. They’ll also take a 10 to 20% cut of your sales, ..but it’s WELL worth it (for the fraud control alone!)

This is the beauty of downloadable software – or anything you can create once and have others purchase multiple times. An eBook for example. Retail used to be king, but I’ll put my money into Net any time.

It’s harder to market yourself on the net beign that there’s so much competition. However, that’s where your Search Engine Marketing comes in. But that’s a topic for a another article.

A beautiful website design can never compensate slow performance in any website design. Most amateurs and professional webmasters belief that the more visual and audio aids they use on their website, which means slower loading time, the better it is for the visitor, when it isn’t so.

Follow these basic rules for website design when creating your site and you can be assured of an optimally designed website you can be proud of.

1) Splash pages should be left out. The splash pages are the fancy pages you see when you enter a website. These pages use elaborate designs created with the purpose to entertain the visitor with fancy animations, brilliant photos and include welcoming words such as “hello” “welcome” or “click here to enter our website”. They are pages with no purpose, and serves to discourage uses from fully utilizing the actual purpose of the website due to their slow loading time. This fanciful addition only serves to confuse the visitor who will likely leave your website immediately if loading time takes too long.

2) Banners must be kept minimal. The most common place for these large advertising banners to be placed is close to the page header but the bottom of the page is also quite popular too. Banner ad tends to be ignored by most web surfers so it is a total majority of the web surfers so they would a total waste of your website space. Instead, provide more valuable content and weave relevant affiliate links into your content, and let your visitors feel that they want to buy instead of being coerced.

3) Always use an easy navigational system Navigation should be made very simple so that even a young child can understand. Do stay away from any form of Flash based menu or even multi-tiered menu as they only serve to add more complication to the layout. If you make it difficult for them, they will leave your site. Have a sitemap added to the website design to help them find what they are looking for.

4) Let it be clear on the user where he is at the moment. When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, you will want to make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. That way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any section of the site easily. This can easily be achieved by ensuring each page has a title and a textual ‘breadcrumb trail’ that clearly shows the links they have made to get where they are now. Never confuse your visitors because you will lose them very quickly as they become frustrated.

5) Use the least audio possible if you want your visitors to stay a long time and read the contents; do not irritate me with your audio. The sounds when added can enhance an experience, but when played over and over gain it can start to be irritating. It may be a cool thing to include some music but do give your users some form of control such as muting ability or volume control. By using this information on website design you will find visitors to your site stay much longer and will return in the future.

When a company is concerned about the web design, Denver Web Design takes into consideration what their customers want and what their needs are. The Denver Web Design programmers always make sites which are easily accessible and pleasant for the customers and this in turn will keep up the traffic numbers. In order to make sure that the company is getting the most out of their web design, the experts of the company follow certain points.

Perhaps the most important step to designing a website is making it easily readable for the user and not to strain them. When a website is hard to read or makes the user have to figure it out usually draws them away from the website.

If the web design is not presented clearly, the Denver companies will see a decrease in their traffic counts and thus their profits. For the customers to read the content easily, it is necessary to have large lettering that is simple in style as well as clear links and menu design that are easy to follow and access.

The website should have lesser color range. The reason being that is becomes difficult for the reader to read the content on a site which is made in shocking color combinations. The Denver Web Design Company on the other hand uses muted colors which tend to attract more return customers.

You should try to avoid any bright or fluorescent colors, these types of colors may attract the eyes at first but usually end up annoying the user. Try and stick to very subtle colors such as black and white or darker against a brighter colors.

A lot of websites jump to far in, with flashy sites that may seem attractive at first but are usually to complicated for the user to use. Denver Web Design companies will ensure an attractive yet user friendly website. This is to make it easy for the user and at the same time show off some sharp and crisp web layouts.

The content put on the website should be very up to the mark for the customers to understand as to what they are into. This helps in making a site a success. When the experts of the Denver Web Design Company continuously update the pages of a web site, it shows to the customers that the company is as interested in the web site as they should be. The Denver Web Design Programmers make sure that they have plenty of content to be visited by the customers.

In order to increase the efficiency and usefulness of the web design, the experts provide multiple venues for their customers to obtain the information they need. For the site to be a success the experts need to look after the need of the customers.

There are plenty of Denver Web Design Firms that will ensure a proper website for you and the user. One that I have to see stand out over many is Us Web Central. These professionals have several services such as video hosting, web hosting, SEO and of course Web Design.

The internet has been growing exponentially over the last few years and there is no reason to believe that this trend would change anytime soon. Many new sites are launched on the internet each day, and each one aims to be different from the rest. Thats where graphic design comes to the rescue.

When you visit a good-looking website with rich graphics, you tend to like it immediately, and are tempted to see what it has to offer. The impact and influence of well thought out graphic design can be huge as it can prove to be the most important factor for increasing engagement with a website.

The field of graphic design is not new. It has been around for quite some time. It has been an important part of promotion activities on all types of media such as newspapers, television, billboards etc. The methods of creation of graphic design, however, has advanced a lot in the recent years.

With demand for graphic design increasing on the internet, a whole industry catering to design needs of websites has mushroomed. This has also meant that many new technologies and tools are now being used to create attractive and unique designs. Many people, even those without any kind of practical training or theoretical knowledge on the topic, are now making use of advanced computer tools such as Photoshop. Thanks to the highly competitive graphic design market, new kinds of styles and methods are being developed all the time.

Still, that does not mean that anyone can get involved in graphic design. Some training and skill in sketching is necessary to become a good graphic designer. Also required is the ability to creatively develop ideas in a way that they fit well with the theme and nature of the product. If you are planning to work for websites, you must also have a basic idea of how they work. As a designer for websites, you also need to know how a user would navigate the site, and what he or she would be attracted to.

If you are looking for a new way to expand your brand awareness one of the best tools that you can use on the Internet is the social media video networking site YouTube. And one of the best ways to take advantage of the power of YouTube is with a professional firm such as Houston website design company, RAXA Design. YouTube is the fourth most visited website on the Internet daily, and is part of the Google family of Internet companies. YouTube when used correctly can be a highly effective marketing tool for your business due to the immense amount of exposure that you can get with very little effort. This is where RAXA Design, a Houston website design company can come to your ais and help you optimize your marketing potential for YouTube.

People love video online. Video is one of the most and interesting parts of the Internet. You can find a video online for just about anything that you find interesting, moving, funny or gross. The best part about online video on YouTube is the fact that there is pretty much no restriction as to what you can produce and how often you can produce it. There are of course some community guidelines that you are expected to follow but they are for the most part common sense things, such as no nudity or sexual oriented material and of course nothing that is considered inflammatory or racist is allowed, but other than these items you are pretty much without restriction other than good common sense and taste. A Houston website design company such as RAXA Design can help you to produce high quality and effective video presentations optimized for YouTube.

Using the power of YouTube to market your business is easy and can make a huge impact to your earning potential. “YouTube is a great tool that a smart business owner will take advantage of,” states Brian Waraksa, owner and Marketing Consultant for Raxa Design, a Houston website design company. His statement has a ring of validity to it. It has been shown that a single YouTube video has the potential to be viewed thousand of times in as little as a couple of weeks. Just think about it, thousands of potential new customers watching what is for all effects and purposes a commercial for your business and they don’t even realize that it is a commercial.

The holiday buying season of 2009 is a prime example of the power that YouTube has on the market. The number one selling toy of the Christmas rush was a small robotic hamster (Zhu Zhu Pets). The distributors of the hamster harnessed the power of YouTube and social video media to build a “gotta-have-it” momentum around the toy for the three months before the shopping season. This was done by using videos of kids that were playing with the hamsters, the videos were made in a way that they resemble regular home movie type videos that are the basis of the YouTube site. This was a highly effective campaign that was produced by a firm similar to Houston website design company RAXA Designs

Marketing took place via the parents or the kids themselves saying the name of the toy over and over throughout the video in a very casual and natural way. Waraksa at the Houston website design company RAXA Designs “The power to utilize everyday, man on the street connections is the very core of why YouTube can be so highly effective in getting you message out, people can connect with your product or service and not even know they are being sold to,” Waraska stated in a conversation at the offices of his Houston website design company.

Raxa Design, a Houston website design company, specializes in graphic design, website design, and search engine optimization. So him and his team know a little about how to develop interactive and informative Internet marketing campaigns.

Some tips to keep in mind when using YouTube to market with video, according to Waraksa are:

1)Don’t make the marketing the central premise of the video, think of it like a dish, make the content the meat and the marketing the subtle seasoning

2)If you are going to include a link across your video it should be understated and should not be constant, bring it into the frame softly a few seconds into the video and then move it out again, repeat one or two more times during the video. Never show it for more then a few seconds.

3)Keep the point of your marketing message simple, if you have a very complex message don’t be afraid to produce more than one video and break the message up into smaller pieces that are easier to digest for the viewer. The same is true for a large product line, you can incorporate your products into the video easily using “product placement” techniques. Just make sure that you aren’t overloading the video with products, one per video is great. Remember they are watching for the content of the video the marketing is soft, they should not even realize its there.

Of course if you are a little skittish about producing your own videos, to aid in your marketing efforts, or perhaps you just don’t have the time, resources or creativity, you can always hire a professional firm to handle it for you. A Houston website design company RAXA Design, which specialize in search engine marketing, can produce full on campaigns, which utilize social media sites such as YouTube and many others to market your brand and message effectively online to a extensively broad and constantly growing market.

The cost of this type of marketing is not as much as you would think and, considering the potential return on investment you can see from video marketing, hiring a firm such as the Houston website design company Raxa Design makes good economic sense. If you were told if you spend $1 and were guaranteed potentially to make $50 would you consider the investment good? YouTube is a goldmine of potential customers who are ready to hear your message. Start making your videos today!

How Social Media and The Hyper-Connectedness of the iGeneration Have Changed the Approaches to Internet Marketing and Branding Strategies

How Social Media and The Hyper-Connectedness of the iGeneration Have Changed the Approaches to Internet Marketing and Branding Strategies

There was a time not too long ago when a business that wanted to improve its image online and increase the amount of traffic to their website that all they had to do was simply hire a content generation company or a Houston website design company to write topic based articles that were optimized to get a really good search engine ranking and if they did this enough they would see and increase in visitors to their site. There is a Houston based website design company that understands and can help. The truth is that the rules have changed in recent years and the writing of articles for search engine purposes is just not enough anymore to get the most highly effective results from your marketing campaign efforts. An executive, who wished to not be named, works at a major content generation and Internet marketing firm in West Virginia & recently noted, “Articles are now only part of the overall package, to market effectively to today’s hyper-connected consumer you have to tap into many different mediums. Using a Houston website design company is a great way to do this. The public is very savvy to traditional marketing strategy and to get the attention of this new generation of potential customers you have to approach them in an entirely new way.”

The simple fact is that if you want to connect with the consumer of today you have to do so in a way that is not direct, one way to do this is hire a Houston based website design company you have to integrate yourself into their daily routine so that you gradually become a part of their life. The best way to connect to this generation is through the outlets that they have claimed as their own, social networking sites. Many Houston website design company like Raxa Design can help to cater to this need. Social networking has taken the idea of the global village to a whole new level. In the old days when a consumer wanted to buy a product, say a component for their camera, they were limited to the stores and outlets that were immediately around them. Today they can use the Internet to connect with a company that sells the component for half the price and can provide it in half the time, the only catch is that the company is half way around the world in Japan. This site was built by a company such as Raxa Design a Houston website design company can build this type of site for you. The consumer purchasing the component found out about the company from their friend who is also a camera buff, who bought the same component several months earlier, and lives 2,300 miles away in Canada, this is due in part to a Houston website design company. They met via the photo sharing site Flickr. Do you see how Flickr was helpful in making the sale for the Japanese company to the man in Florida who wanted the camera component, the people at Raxa Design a Houston website design company does and can help you with your needs.

At this stage it doesn’t matter how the original man in Canada heard about the Japanese company, but the important thing is that through social networking he shared the knowledge with the man in Florida. If the Florida man places a message on his Facebook wall and then tweets on Twitter about the experience then he has completed a cycle of social networking exposure for the Japanese company. You can use a Houston website design company to This now means that the Japenese company has gained exposure for all the people that are “friends”of the man in Florida on Facebook as well as everyone who “follows” him on Twitter. All from the one connection that was made with the Canadian man via Flickr.

“Social marketing is the wave of the future,” says Brian Waraksa, founder and Marketing Consultant at Raxa Design in Houston, TX, a marketing firm and Houston website design company that specializes in Internet marketing, website & graphic design and search engine optimization, “Those who are going to be the industry leaders in the next few years are the companies that take full advantage of the always plugged in nature of the so called iGeneration, they are the toughest consumers we have ever had to deal with, but they also offer the biggest potential rewards that we have ever seen from a single group.” Waraksa and his Houston website design company. speaks the truth, studies show that while it is harder than ever to build a strong connection to the consumer base that is identified as part of generation (i), when you are able to make the connection they spend more money and do so more frequently than previous generations in the same age demographic. Its should also be noted that due to the sexual, cultural, and racial boundary crossing that is seen very uniquely with this consumer group the iGeneration is the single largest marketing audience to ever emerge in North America. The people with Houston website design company Raxa Design know this fact and can design your website to reflect these trends. “The amount of marketing potential that generation (i) has is bigger than any other cultural market group we have ever seen,” Ray Hurly, Director of market research for the Panda Group in TN said in a recent conversation, “They have more market potential than African-Americans and suburban women combined, have ever had, its amazing to see that kind of buying power develop amongst a group that on the surface seems to have no obvious bindings. But, nonetheless, it cant be argued, generation (i) is the generation of consumerism, smart businesses will harness social networking to connect with them, and they will do it today.”

So how is the best way to take advantage of social networking? You need to partner yourself with an Internet marketing company that is experienced in dealing with the complexities of using social media outlets as part of an effective marketing campaign. Firms as well as a Houston website design company such as RAXA Design in Houston, TX can guide you through the process and help you to maximize your potential with the most powerful consumer base to ever develop. The only question is, are you ready to take the ride?

Have you ever opened up a letter from a company and saw that the letterhead seemed to take up half of the page? Now, sometimes these letterheads have been quite interesting to look at, so I supposed the company managed to achieve something with that, but it still does not change the fact that the thing is so huge it looks out of place and odd.

For those getting letterhead printing done this is the first mistake I see a lot and something you should be mindful of. The best letterheads are the ones that are not necessarily that noticeable. They give their information without jumping out at a person, and they do not draw attention away from what the letter itself is about.

This can be particularly annoying if you are trying to have a serious correspondence and your letterhead is the most noticeable thing on the page. It takes attention away from the matter at hand and a person ends up spending a decent amount of time looking at your letterhead rather than what you wrote in the letter itself.

The next mistake is kind of the opposite, and this is where the letterhead is so plain and basic I question why they spent money on letterhead printing at all. If you are going to create a letterhead at least add to it some kind of distinctive visual element. This might have to do with adding your logo to the top of the page or this might have to do with using coloring that suits your company.

No matter what you pick just be sure that your letterhead has a purpose and is not just there to be there.

Continuing along this same path also consider what information is on your letterhead. I have seen both too much and too little information before. A letterhead is often going to have the basic contact information for your company, not unlike your business card. This is so someone can take just the letter itself and keep it with them. They do not have to save the envelope to see what your address is, and they have your phone number if they need it.

Some people just put way to much contact information on those letterheads and kind of bog down the page with it. Others do not put much of anything, limiting it to just a phone number and address. Do you have a fax number or cell phone number as well for people? Make sure you put all the important information there.

Letterhead printing should really be part of every company, and I would consider the last common mistake of letterhead printing to be not getting it at all. Every company is going to be sending out a lot of letters, and it does not take much to design an effective letterhead, and make sure everything you send out has your basic contact information and your company logo on it.
